Kevin writes for pleasure. There is a joy in seeing words well-said taking form on the page or computer screen. For many years that was enough. But as he shared those words with others, he found that others enjoyed them and were moved by them. Slowly new reasoning developed. His motive for writing is to tell a tale which brings pleasure to, challenges or moves the reader. However aesthetically pleasing a piece may be, when vocabulary or style obscures that purpose for the reader, it is out of place. For this reason, Kevin tends to write positive pieces that reflect his
deeply-held traditional beliefs. Even when there is hardship and tragedy
contained in the tale, there is always hope. As in life, some stories
even have happy endings! Though he tries to make characters realistic,
so that even the most evil have redeeming features and even the most
good are not perfect. Kevin would rather emulate Wilbur Smith than James
Joyce. |
